CircuitMess has launched the NASA Artemis Watch 2.0, a fully assembled, programmable smartwatch for kids and beginners, timed to coincide with the Artemis II crewed lunar mission that lifted off from Kennedy Space Center on April 1, 2026.

The watch is officially licensed by NASA and aimed at kids aged 9 and up. It ships ready to use out of the box and supports three levels of coding: CircuitBlocks (a beginner drag-and-drop environment), Python (for intermediate users), and the Arduino IDE (for full hardware-level access). The firmware is entirely open-source and hosted on GitHub, meaning there are no subscription fees, no locked features, and no forced updates.

Design and Hardware

The watch has a transparent rectangular housing that exposes the mainboard, giving it a retro-futuristic look that several outlets have compared to the Pip-Boy from the Fallout series. Inside is a dual-core ESP32 microcontroller paired with a full-color LCD display. It connects to iOS and Android phones over Bluetooth for notifications and activity tracking. The USB-C port handles both charging and code transfer.

The sensor package includes an accelerometer, gyroscope, compass, and temperature sensor. There is no heart rate monitor or SpO2 tracking. This is a coding and STEM device, not a fitness wearable.

What Changed from Version 1

The original Artemis Watch was a DIY kit that required around 30 minutes of assembly. The 2.0 arrives fully built. CircuitMess is keeping the DIY version on sale for those who want the hands-on build experience, so the two products now sit side by side rather than replacing each other.

I'm Mudasir, founder of Deep Review Lab. I have spent years testing consumer electronics and smart home devices before writing a single word about them. Every product on this site goes through real daily use, not a quick unboxing. I started this site because I got tired of reading reviews that were clearly written by people who never touched the product. My goal is simple: give you the honest take a knowledgeable friend would give before you spend your money.
